The Project
Prairie Girl Bakery has been one of our favorite clients over the years (decade to be precise). We have been working together since 2010 and although their website has gone through many changes and updates in that time, it was in need of a bigger re-fresh. It was time to update the esthetics, adapt the website to a full-screen design and ensure all of it was mobile responsive.
We kept the main branding colors, pattern and style the same, but unified the elements on the site, and incorporated some new graphics, icons and custom fonts. The main focus of the re-vamp was on mobile compatibility and simplifying their online ordering system. We also added some great new imagery and banners throughout the site, using the custom photography we had taken over the last year.

Our Approach
It was also a good opportunity to analyze how the website was used internally, and what parts were updated often, and what didn’t need to remain on the site any longer. A redesign is the perfect time to do a full-audit and re-assess the focus of a website. For Prairie Girl, that meant making the homepage much easier to update, so that seasonal flavours could be showcased, better integrating the mailing list sign up into the checkout page, and pulling in their Instagram feed, so there were always delectable images front-and-center.
We are really happy with how the project came together. Check it out and let us know what you think! www.prairiegirlbakery.com
If your website is in need of a redesign or a serious revamp, make sure to spend the time upfront auditing how it’s used internally as a tool for the business. There are usually great opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, reduce admin time, and keep things updated easier with the new tools and technology that is always changing in the web world.
