Spectrum Equipment provides end-to-end equipment management solutions, including Sales and Rentals of a full lineup of Heavy Equipment for snow removal and construction industries. They had operated a website for many years but found a frustrating division between their main website and online store. As well, there were notable security issues with how their site was constructed and it was difficult for potential customers to navigate and filter through the wide assortment of equipment they have.
They asked for our help to revise their existing website to integrate the online store and the main informational website together, and better structure the navigation and store filtering. We also gave the website a content and visual facelift to make it more visually appealing. It was also a good opportunity to add some new features to make the site easier to manage internally.
We added simple features like the ability to mark equipment as ‘sold’ or ‘rented’ with a click from the backend. We also re-organized the equipment into more user friendly categories and made it much easier for customers to reach out for more information on a piece of equipment. Lastly, we cleaned up a lot of unused files, improved the security features, website speed and made it more search engine friendly.
The result is a more useful website to both the business and it’s customers. WordPress and WooCommerce is a great platform for managing large inventory catalogs, even without using the full ecommerce checkout process. There are great features for displaying, filtering and highlighting products, even if the actual purchase happens offline.
